Buttons and Coco, our beloved miniature horses, are helping children discover that reading can be fun and welcoming. Through our equine-assisted literacy program, Reading with Buttons and Coco, children have the opportunity to build confidence, develop a love of reading, and share stories with two very special listeners. Local author Troy Peternell wrote a children’s book about friendship featuring Buttons and Coco, and we bring the story, and the minis, to schools, community events, and festivals for read-alouds and hands-on horse interactions. The pair have visited Prospect Point Elementary School, events at Frog Hollow Farm, and other gatherings throughout the Walla Walla Valley, bringing smiles and a little miniature-horse magic wherever they go.
Would you like Buttons and Coco to visit your classroom, school, or community event? We’d love to hear from you!
