Internships

Blue Mountain Therapeutic Riding has welcomed interns from Whitman College and Walla Walla University, representing a variety of academic disciplines and interests. Our internships offer students the opportunity to gain hands-on experience, contribute to the day-to-day work of a nonprofit, and explore careers involving equine-assisted services, education, animal care, and community programming.

Interns can get involved in a wide range of projects and responsibilities, including adaptive riding, lesson and program support, program development, marketing and communications, grant writing and fundraising, event planning, volunteer coordination, administrative work, and horse and facility care. We work with each intern to identify opportunities that align with their interests, skills, and academic or professional goals while also addressing the needs of our organization.

Internships with Blue Mountain Therapeutic Riding are unpaid positions; however, students may be eligible to pursue funding through their college or university, such as the Whitman Internship Grant. We value the contributions our interns make to BMTR and strive to provide meaningful, hands-on experiences that help them grow professionally and personally.
