Volunteer With Us

Volunteers are at the heart of Blue Mountain Therapeutic Riding. We simply couldn’t run our programs without them!

Whether you have years of experience with horses or have never been around a horse before, there is a place for you here. We provide training and support for all of our volunteers, either individually or in a group setting.

Our Biggest Volunteer Need: Adaptive Riding

Our greatest need is for volunteers to support our adaptive riding lessons. Volunteers work alongside our instructors to help make each lesson safe, supportive, and successful for every rider.

We especially need:

  • Horse Leaders – Lead and manage the horse during lessons.
  • Side Walkers – Walk alongside riders to provide physical and/or verbal support during lessons.

No previous experience with horses or people with disabilities is required. We’ll teach you everything you need to know!

Other Ways to Volunteer

There are many ways to get involved beyond our riding lessons. Our volunteers help keep the entire program running, including:

  • Horse Feed Team – Our entire herd is fed by volunteers!
  • Grounds & Barn Maintenance – Help keep our facility safe, clean, and welcoming.
  • Exercise Team – Help provide exercise and enrichment for our horses.
  • Barn Buddies – Spend time with and help care for our horses.
  • Grant Writing – Help us secure funding to support our programs and horses.
  • Special Events & Projects – Lend a hand with events, fundraisers, and other projects throughout the year.

Group Volunteering

Looking for a meaningful volunteer opportunity for a school group, office, business, sorority, fraternity, service organization, or other group?

We welcome group volunteers! Group opportunities can be a great way to give back to the community, learn about adaptive riding, and work together to support our horses and riders.

Reach out to us to learn more about current group volunteer opportunities and how we can create an experience that works for your group.
